THE ANNEX RECORDING STUDIOS

Having learned the piano and organ at an early age I decided like most children to leave music alone while pursuing the usual teenage interests! It wasn’t until years later that I discovered the synthesiser…and that changed my life forever. Over the years I’ve played keyboards in a wide variety of bands ranging from new wave to progressive rock! In 1984 I made an album with a heavy rock band Explorer and we subsequently toured the UK…the highlight of which was an unforgettable concert at the Kings Theatre in Southsea. In 1992 I helped a student friend of mine with a soundtrack to a film he was making as part of his media studies degree at Portsmouth University. I quickly realised that I had both an aptitude and a strong desire to be involved in this medium. I went on to make several corporate video soundtracks for freelance producers who worked in association with the University and even contributed towards the music for a full length feature film ‘Road to Nowhere’ produced and directed by Michael J. Murphy a local Portsmouth film maker. More recently I have been involving myself with recording at home and this has inevitably lead to the birth of…’The Annex’.
